January over already????

I am in the process of transferring files to another computer and ran across this lovely photo of my mommy and I. Mom hates having her picture taken and that smile is so fake but that is cool. :-)

January is coming to a close and I am grateful. One month closer to spring. Yippy...... Above is my hunk with this reknitted hat. Isn't he darn cute?

Sleep Studies

Another phase of my "what is wrong with my sinuses" has arrived . Tonight I am going for a sleep study. What is a sleep study you say? There are different sleep studies done but this is what mine will entail:

Polysomnogram. This test records several body functions during sleep, including brain activity, eye movement, oxygen and carbon dioxide blood levels, heart rate and rhythm, breathing rate and rhythm, the flow of air through your mouth and nose, snoring, body muscle movements, and chest and belly movement.

Someone suggested I take a camera with me and have them take a picture when they get me hooked up to all the "things". We will see about that.....

Las Vegas Trip

Jimmy is going to Las Vegas for a work conference from 2/17 through 2/22. The conference is being held at the Bellagio hotel and casino. I was stunned when Jimmy suggested that we buy a ticket so that I could join him on the trip. Jimmy and I have never taken a get away trip. I am so excited. Last week we purchased my plane ticket. I am flying back home on the same flight as Jimmy but going out we decided to save $100 and purchased a ticket on a flight that leaves 10 minutes after his. Stay tuned for pictures when we return!

Animal instinct, repeating, and suck it up!

Poo was already declawed when we adopted him two years ago. However it is apparent kitty cats never lose their animal instinct to sharpen their claws. In this picture Poo is vigorously rubbing his "claws" on Jimmy's storage basket in an attempt to sharpen his weapons. Go Poo Go!

Kiki is our resident princess. Her current thrown of choice is the back of the couch in our office. Isn't she beautiful?

So yesterday we had some pretty darn cold temps here in Dublin Ohio. While riding around with Jimmy he kept tugging at the bottom of the hat I knit for him a couple weeks ago. He informed me that he wished it was 1 inch longer. So off to the LYS we went and I was able to purchase the same yarn/color. Last night while watching The Kingdom I started knitting up a new longer hat for him.

This morning while chatting with a knitting friend and telling her this story she asked what I planned to do with the first hat. I said I am going to donate it. Well she is knits socks for soldiers and suggested I send it to socks for soldiers and designate it a girls hat. So on Wednesday I am going to pass it along to her and she is going to send it with her next donation.

Ahhhhh and finally the bombshell. Currently I am intimidated. I have reached a point where I have to perform a bunch of calculations so that I can place BOOBY DARTS. gasp..... This is where I need to suck it up and just do it. What is the worst thing that can happen here folks? rip it rip it rip it.... Suck it up cath..... Just do it as Nike use to say?

PJ Sunday

Oh how I love Sundays where we can stay in our PJ's all day long. Because we can still do our chores, school work, and KNIT in our PJ's. Here is some pictures of what has been happening in the world of knitting. Friday night I meet a knitting friend at a knitters night out sponsored by a LYS. It was pretty lame. So yesterday I went to a killer LYS where I was able to purchase a couple needles I needed as well as this yarn for a special Christmas 2008 gift. This yarn is sooooooooooooo soft and I can't wait to get started on that project.

I finished adding the length to the stripped sweater (stay tuned for new finished pics) and wore it last night to Jimmy's work holiday party so my fingers started itching to cast on my Bombshell sweater. Below is a couple pics of my progress:

This is a brown sock I am knitting for Jimmy. This project fits nicely in my Go knit bag and went with me everywhere I did last week.

Randomness

Isn't that tin just darling? It was a gift from a friend and filled with krispy treats. YUM!

The yarn above plus 5 other skeins will be knit up into a sweater. Stay tuned.....

My hunk....

For me Intricate Lace = Insanity

Lace.....

I must be insane. Yep. It has been confirmed over the last 10 days. I have been OCD over the damn SSS project. To the point where my husband has made comments about my stress level over the f'ing thing. Upon reflection I realize this SSS isn't my first attempt at lace. I started that super secret project over the summer and the original pattern was LACE. I was stressed out and miserable then too. Now here is the kicker..... Knitting, for me anyway, is about relaxing and fun. Something to do with my hands when I would be sitting and staring at that walls or TV. Knitting has become, since the summer, a social avenue. I have made some incredible friends in a few short months. Should I risk giving up knitting over lace? I think not. Insanity.... Repeating the same things over and over and expecting different results. So what I can't knit intricate lace. I do just fine on short repeating lace patterns. The cozy started out a little rocky but found its way nicely. Of course it is sitting on the bottom of my knitting bag because I got a wildly insane hair up my butt to knit the SSS instead. Well I say good riddance of the SSS and welcome back cozy.

Speed Knitting

Been doing some speed knitting of the Last Hurrah Scarf. Started 1/3/08 and finished with blocking 1/4/08. To be given as a little gift to our friend Judy having us over for dinner at her new condo tonight, 1/5/08. I had the yarn in my stash which was left from the gloves I made for my MIL for Christmas 2007. The link to the pattern used:

SSS and odds-n-ends

Today is already 1/3 and the cold has set in like a old draft that won't plug up even with the best of insulation. My bones ached today whenever I was outside. If that isn't a sign that I have reached middle age then I don't know what is......

I am halfway through clue one for the SSS and I love the feel of the yarn and the lace pattern. I also like the way it looks so far. Though I have to admit I know why I never became a photographer. See for yourself and you decide:

I forgot to mention that my wonderful mom gave me this Go Knits bag for Christmas. It is sweet and has been with me just about every time I have left the house since finding it on Christmas morn.

Oh and check out Poo sleeping under our desks. Isn't he sweet?

Yesterday I received two little gifts. First, a knitting friend gave me a Knitting Abacus Bracelet. She made it herself. She said that every knitting accountant should have one. It is very cute:

Second, when I arrived home from knitting group last night I found that my latest knitting book ordered had arrived in the mail yesterday:

Happy New Year 2008

Ahhhhhhh an even numbered year. YEAHHHHHHHHHHH I have always had a mental thing about odd years being "downer years" and I am looking forward to an "upper year".

This year will bring about a change in our presidential leadership as a nation and is also a leap year! I have a personal goal to lose 50 pounds this year. It is a pound a week with two weeks off for vacation. :-)

Over the New Years holiday I knit a hat for Jimmy. A Hat Fit for a Boyfriend by Stephanie: http://stephanieknits.blogspot.com/2007/03/keeping-boyfriends-ears-warm-since-2006.html Knit in Cascade 220 Heather color 2427 (red) picked out by Jimmy at Temptations in Dublin on Saturday 12/29/07:

Today I cast on the 138 stitches for the SSS (Spring Surprise Shawl).
