I did it... I purchased the Van Gogh yesterday. It will be here in 3 to 5 weeks. I purchased 1,000 yards in a Zephyr Wool/Silk Laceweight. I am going to make this for me: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTcozy.html

Scrap Rug

For the pattern go here: http://www.knit1mag.com/patterns/2007/summer/k1su07_web2.pdf

OK.... I LOVE this rug! What a fabulous way to use up the ends of scrap yarn. I have to get knitting so I can accumulate scrap yarn again. I used up all of my scraps in a project earlier this year so I must make more scraps! :-)

WOYNW - 9/26

What's on your needles Wednesday: Here is what is on my needles today:

1. Cobblestone Sweater for Hubby - I have knitted the body to the arms. I have casted on and ripped out the first wrist cuff 3 times. It isn't a fitted cuff but it shouldn't be big enough to go around the neck either. So I am going to keep working at it until I get it right. I have gone down needle sizes twice so far. http://www.interweaveknits.com/

2. Shell using leftover yarn for me - I have finished the back and have casted on the front and worked one row. http://www.berroco.com/189/189_leah.html

3. Bath Mitt for a gift (Kitchener the mitt closed is all that remains) - I have not touched this over the last week. I think I will hold this and kitchener it with the socks I am working on are ready.

4. Illusion dishcloth for a gift - I have not touched this over the last week.

5. First pair of socks which will be a gift - last night was the final sock class. I am currently working on finishing the second sock of this pair. Then I will have a "graph everything" session.

6. Second pair of socks for Jimmy. I have worked the first sock of a second pair through the heel cup.

7. Super Secret Project. I received the yarn for this project yesterday from knit picks. I won't be able to post details to this blog for at least 6 months. Anyone interested in seeing details on the project and pictures please email me at clbrmba@gmail.com. If you have the appropriate level of clearance I will send update emails. If you don't have appropriate clearance level then you will have to wait for a very special day. Boy you would think this was a CIA case or something. Anyway I have to stop at Heavenly Creations to pick up a circular needle so that I can cast the stitches on for this project. I did cast the stitches on for this project tonight during my knitting group.

Swift, Ball Winder & Sock Book

Jimmy won two auctions on EBay last week: Ball Winder and Swift. I also received this sock book today. I am going to be making custom socks for my husband. Due to a medical condition one of his legs is larger than the other so finding socks that fit him is a challenge.

Pignoli bag & George the Giraffe

Jimmy and I went out for a bite to eat tonight and there was a gentleman making balloon creatures. Also here are the final pictures of the finished Pignoli bag. I bought some extra leather cord to reinforce the strap since I tend to over stuff my bags.

Pignoli bag - finished

Bag finished in 9 days from start to finish. The trim I ordered for the bag didn't work out so well. The leather cord was not a complimentary color and the bone embellishments didn't work out. So I went to a local shop and found a complimentary leather cord and I am in search of some new embellishments. Above is a picture of the bag put together before felting. I will put up some felted pics soon.

Cobblestone Pullover for Jimmy

Check out the Fall 2007 issue of Interweave Knits http://www.interweaveknits.com/. I am going to knit the Cobblestone Pullover by Jared Flood for Jimmy. He isn't a big fan of wool so I ordered a cotton blend:

Yarn Ends?

Do you weave in your ends as you work through a project or do you wait and weave them in when the project is finished?

I had a "lightbulb" experience during my recent knit outing this week. I realized I am pretty obsessed about ends not woven in. I am not only obsessive about my own ends not being wove in as I go but I get the "unsettled feeling" when I see other ends not woven in that aren't even mine. This is a bit psycho of me I think but hey this is the first step to any 12 step program right? Admitting I have a problem. :-)

So I am wondering how others feel about ends?

New project started - Pignoli Bag

The Pignoli bag has officially moved from my "project wish list" to my current projects. I love felting, the few pieces that I have done, and they always seem to come out smaller than I anticipated. I fell in love with this bag a while back:
Last week I was in the Yarn Shop and found some yarn that I thought would be perfect. I am using Ecological Wool from cascade Yarns. I am working the piece in brown and beige.

I have ordered the finishing at MJTrim.com.

Operation Grass Be Gone!

This week begins phase II of "Operation Grass Be Gone". We have a small courtyard behind our home and earlier this year I removed 1/3 of the grass back there. This week the rest is going! The grass in this picture is what is being eliminated. I am using a combination of pavers and river pebbles. The river pebbles match what I did earlier this year. I will try to find a picture of the earlier project and put it up later. When this is finished there will be an area for our fire pit as well as our two lounge chairs. I am also going to make a little walk way around the herb garden (which can be seen along the fence line in the picture).
