House guest.....

I have decided on yarn and beads for the MS4 KAL which there are over 3,900 people signed up to knit this thing. WOW! I am going to use Gloss fingering weight yarn from Knitpicks in the Woodland Sage colorway. I am going to use Toho Bead Round 8/0 Marbled Opaque Avacado/Pink beads. I need 700 of them. I also have to hunt down something called super floss. Somehow you use this super floss to thread the beads onto the stitches.

This little beauty is Jasmine. Her mommy is out of the country for two weeks and we are caring for her. She is very sweet and social. I wish I could say the same for my villains.

Lace Crazy?

Am I lace crazy? They are getting ready to kick off the Mystery Stole 4 on 9/5/08. I am really wanting to participate in this KAL.

So whats the problem you say? Does anyone remember my first KAL attempt with the Spring Shawl Surprice (spelling correct with how the owner named it) which has now been named Mother Earth? I am still recovering from that nightmare. So many have had such good luck with KAL's that I really want to have what they have experienced.

I am not so sure about the beads though.
What I have read so far is that you really have to incorporate the beads in this stole. Not sure I am really into the bead thing though. HUMMMM....

Awesome Saturday!

OK well this picture was taken last night so it isn't technically part of today but it is still cool. Jimmy and I were headed out last night and found this little guy on our garbage toter handle. Isn't it cute? Of course Jimmy had to do a boy thing and try to pet it which caused the frog to pee and jump away. ewwwwwwww can anyone say warts?

I met a knitting friend at the Franklin Park Conservatory this morning where there is a Blooms and Butterfly Exhibit. Not sure but I think this one is a moth.

Beautiful black and red butterfly. My friend and I tried very hard to get a picture of the gorgeous blue butterflies by they just wouldn't sit still for me. I hope she got some shots of them.

Koi pond. Wow they are so pretty and big!

This bonsai is over 25 years old.

This Jade Tree is at least 25 years old.

We went to knit with another knitting friend at the Pickerington Yarn Shop afterwards and I picked up some cotton chenille to make these lovely wash clots found in the Weekend Knitting book.

Also found a Jade Tree at the gift shop in the Conservatory that had my name on it. Those tomatoes are the first from my garden!

Enough is enough....

So with knitting I have learned it is ok to scrap a project that once seemed so very cool. In the beginning I was so enthusiastic but then something happened. The knitting infatuation dissipated and I am left with a new found resentment forming towards the project. That is where I have been at with the Komb (picture above) project.

So last evening I was pondering this Komb dilemma when I remembered the Mason-Dixon Knitting book and the Modern Log Cabin pattern. Bells rang and peace ensued within my knitting brain. I grabbed the yarn and needles and casted on this lovely. This project will be the mindless knit that I can grab when I want to read and knit at the same time. Gotta love garter stitch projects.

I am going to use the same yarn set aside for the Komb that was sent back with me from Mom in New York earlier this year. I am going to make two of them for our bed covering. Which we bought a new bed this week omg. I woke up this morning for the first time in years without pain. :-)

Giraffes

Jimmy is back home! Woohooooooooooo...... He brought me this very cute Giraffe Journal back from the Windy City.
The pages inside are graph on the left and blank on the right. Perfect for creating projects!

We went to the Crafin' Outlaws yesterday and found this cute print. She is hanging proudly in our loft.
I had a gardening itch today so off to Straders we went. Came home with four Succulents and planted them in a shallow planter that was emptied this morning due to replanting of another plant.

Brought in all but one of the house plants today. I have been missing plants in the house. Or maybe we have been lacking in oxygen in the house while they have been outside for the summer!

A 20 # cat shouldn't be able to do that......

Ok so I am really frustrated...... We have discovered why Poo has been getting the "Hershey Squirts". Yep he has gotten stronger taking steroids so now he can jump up into the coffin corner, where we feed Kiki. Kiki's and Poo can't eat the same food. We have tried every combination under the sun three times over. They just can't. His food make her puke more than normal and her food makes him Hershey Squirt.

Well tonight this is where I found him! That look says man I am pissed because the food bowl isn't here. I put it somewhere else not 5 minutes before I found him in that pose. I think it is going to be a situation where Kiki will get her food at a different location daily.

Winner 2x's

I entered another contest on Good Reads and I was selected with four others out of 1,574 entries to receive an advanced copy of The Dangerous Days of Daniel X by James Patterson.

I received my first advance copy earlier this week and so far I can't put it down.

I wonder if she had hidden code in her cookbooks?

Knitting denial must be faced

Ok so I am ready to face something that I have been in denial about since Monday. I "finished" the ribbed mitts for my MIL's Christmas gift. Well if you look really close the one on the right is WRONG. The thumb hole is in the hand and not where the fingers should be. Opps.... Well that isn't the only problem with that mitt. When I was performing the 3 needle bind off I forgot to bind off so I have an extra bind off row. So I now am ready to frog and fix.

Craftin' Outlaws ~ Alternative Craft Fair Saturday 8/16 from noon until 7 PM at BOMA

Jimmy is all excited because I will be picking him up at the airport at around 10:30 Saturday morning and heading over to Nazzy's for lunch. Then from lunch we are heading to BOMA. Hope to see you all there!

Layout knitted goodies and THEY will appear....

Our kitties are picture trollops. Bring out yarn and/or knitwear, the camera and it wont be long before at least one of them "appears". You could call your fool head off to get their attention and not see hide nor hair of them. This is Jimmy's finished Stiletto Necklace made with Stephspun yarn purchased at ComFest.

Yesterday morning Jen and I met at the Kenny Road The Yarn Shop location to knit. I purchased this yarn to make the Fingerless Mitts for Jimmy's mom for Christmas.

These socks are ready to be Kitchener closed.

I finally finished the knitting on this project. All that is left is the blocking and tassels.

What a week and it's only hump day....

In knitting news... On Sunday Jimmy and I were at Garden Ridge and I found this lovely basket. It is now the home of my projects near my favorite chair in the living room. It has really cleaned up things. Kiki loves "sharpening" her nails on it. Those socks on the top are the Cozy Armchair Socks # 2 with the book where the pattern is found behind.

I have been so envious of others who can knit and read so last week I went to Barnes & Noble and found this book weight. It works perfectly. Now hopefully I can do both and stop watching so much darn brain numbing TV.

Below is the start of the 2 Year Scrap Yarn Coiled Rug, which is where many of the scrap leftover yarn will be used up. I anticipate this rug will take about 2 years to finish.

This is the finished Bubbly Curtain. It is currently drying. I hope to get it hung in the Powder Room very soon with pictures soon after.

Off the needles....

One thing is for sure when my significant other is out of town I knit twice as much as I normally do. I picked him up at the airport this morning. It is his birthday today! Happy Birthday Daddio!

So the picture below is of a scarf, hat and sock set. I modified the picture to be a little less clear because I don't want to give away the details entirely since these are Christmas gifts and I am not sure if the recipient reads this blog or not. I used a watercolor filter on the photo. I really got a kick out of messing with the picture so I am sure you will be seeing more fun photos soon.

The finished, unblocked Cozy Wrap. I will not bore you again with the details of this project since it has been mentioned so may other times. All I am going to say is this piece almost makes me wish for Fall. Don't hit me.....

So Monday evening a knitting friend stopped by with a wonderful Papa Murphy pizza. We spent the evening gabbing and knitting. It was a beautiful evening.

Kiki agrees.....
